Text: Luke 14:25-30, John 12:24-26, 2 Timothy 4:7.
Topic: WHAT HAS HEAVE COST YOU?.
Many claim to be Christians but they are not mindful about heaven and it’s requirements; Heaven is the abode of God and it is a holy place (Luke11:2, 1 Peter 1:15).
Whosoever that is aspiring to make heaven at last must be mindful of it’s requirements and be ready to abide by it (Luke 14:26-27).
If there is no cross, there would be no crown. No bread without the heat of fire. It cost our master Jesus something precious (His position and life) before he regained it. (Rom. 4:24-25).
Serving God to make Heaven will cost you something. The question here is ‘What has heaven cost you?
WE ARE GOING TO SURVEY THIS MESSAGE UNDER TWO SUBHEADINGS:-
- HEAVENLY COST OUTLINED AND REASONS.
In every success, there is hard work, in every promotion, there is a text/exam, in every recognition, there is cognisance. Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people.
Heaven must cost you something,and some of those things are:-.
A. SELF DENIAL: There must be self denial (Luke 14:26-27, John 12:24-25)
B. DISCIPLINE; Proverb 10:17.
C. PURITY: (1 Peter 1:15) (Mummy’s book- Valuable lessons from the Bible women. Chapter 20 Page 93) Mary an example of purity, Luke 1:27-28.
To live a holy life is difficult and it is simple, it is by CHOICE. Some could have kept their purity but followed the steps of others
(Exo. 23:2).
D. TOTAL OBEDIENCE: Obedience is a prize that goes with a cost (Rom. 5:19,Gen. 22:1-2,2 Tim. 1:8.) PARTIAL OBEDIENCE IS DESTRUCTIVE. (James 2:10, James. 2:10, Her. 11:3)
E. TOTAL SERVICE: Work done for other people of for God and the worship of God. ( Rom. 12:1, Philip. 2:16-17, Eph. 6:6-7.
This is the time to serve God and prepare for heaven. (2 Cor. 6:2, Eccl. 12:1) the old dies so also the young, and after death the judgement.
(Eccl. 30:20, Heb. 9:27, 2 Cor. 5:10).
The reason being that heaven as the abode of God is a place prepared for true believers as our final resting place full of glory.
- OUR EXPECTED RESPONSE AND BENEFITS.
We must understand that our heavenly father want us to be with him at the end of this life and a better place has been prepared (John 14:1-3) He is coming back for the righteous with rewards (1 Peter 5:4) His eyes are over the righteous ones. (1 Peter 3:12, Isaiah 3:10).
Live a righteous life begin NOW, continue from now on; let Heaven cost you something by living a life of self denial, purity, total obedience to God and serve him In truth and honesty from your heart.
Lastly, Eschew evils,such as Adultery, Fornication, Masturbation,Exam cheats, Immoral thoughts e.t.c; Avoid bad friends/Gang (1 Cor. 15:33), Repent from every known and unknown sin(s). (1 John 3:8-9, 1 John 5:17a, Rom. 13:10)
