Memory Verse: “The destruction of the poor is their poverty.” (Proverbs 10:15)
We deserve abundance as children of God because God has created us to live in His abundance. Our text for today shows us how God advertised His abundance in every facet of life. He is abundant in goodness and truth. He does not want His children to live beggarly and poverty-stricken life because it can bring destruction to our souls. Of course, it is only natural that when we do not enjoy the abundance of God’s blessings, we might be tempted to murmur and complain like the children of Israel did and that can bring destruction.
Our memory verse for today outlines the source of destruction of the poor. It says it is their state of poverty. This means that poverty can bring destruction. Therefore, it is not something that should be desired.
Poverty has a lot of disadvantages. It hinders an individual from meeting up with his/her social responsibilities and set goals. People can take advantage of them and mock them because they are powerless. What brings destruction to the poor is not the devil as many people are tempted to believe. Instead, the destruction of the poor is their poor mental attitude. Poverty is a thing of the mind. When somebody is poor mentally, his judgments will also be poor. So, a poor mental attitude leads to material poverty.
Are you a mentally poor person? The word of God can help you. The bible says, “Study to show thyself approved.” It is only through the word of God that you can understand the spiritual principles that will give you a broader understanding of the world we live in today and life generally. So, if you want to escape from the clutches of real poverty, you must acquaint yourself with the word of God which contains absolute truths about how we can live a successful life. You can develop the power of positive thinking through the reading and meditation of the word of God concerning work, business, career, education, marriage, human relationships, etc.
Are you going through leanness, scarcity, and poverty and have done virtually everything to change this trend to no avail? Begin to acquaint yourself with materials that can help develop your mindset. There is no way to manage poverty better than to change your mindset. This is what the spirit of God through His word brings into your life. At this point, you begin to see sense in having a humble beginning. May I inform you: Many have risen from zero to heroes. You can achieve the same feat. Mind the company you keep. Avoid speculators and charlatans.
Make friends with those who are better than you and not those you are better than. You stand a chance of being improved by the former than the latter. Put on your thinking cap. By begging, you make the word of God untrue.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
- Any spirit of poverty, scarcity, leanness, suffering, and hardship assigned against my life/destiny; be uprooted, in Jesus’ name.
- Any generational inherited poverty from my father’s house, family, or kindred manifesting in my life today; be separated from me by fire, in Jesus’ name.
- O thou God of Chosen, release upon our G. O, Mommy in the Lord, their children and the entire family the grace for supernatural abundance, in Jesus’ name.
- Any drum of war being beaten by the devil and his evil spirits against our nation, catch fire. We declare peace all over our nation, in Jesus’ name.
