Memory Verse: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
Our text today is an eye-opener concerning the importance which giving holds in the life of a believer in Christ. Some people are of the misguided notion that when they give, they are helping the church or the pastor. This, the Apostle Paul made point blank that the purpose of giving is not because you want to help the church or the pastor. It is for you to have something abounding in your account.
Every believer has a spiritual account from which to draw from time to time. What you are going to draw depends on what you have deposited through giving of offering, tithes, seeds, charity works, etc. What you have in your spiritual bank account will determine what you can ‘cash’ out. Unfortunately, many people do not have anything abounding in their spiritual accounts, yet, they keep wondering why they cannot draw. Are you like that? There is no secret to what you are going through. The reason is that you have nothing abounding in your account and therefore nothing to draw from.
If you want something to abound in your account, then give. When you fail to give, you are violating the law of giving and receiving, which says, “Give and it shall be given unto you.” One thing certain is that no giver diminishes because of giving. Instead, those who give increase and multiply because they draw from what abounds in their accounts spiritually. This is to say, that giving opens the door of abundance.
When anyone gives, he qualifies to receive. But the stingy are not qualified and do not receive anything.
Giving is a spiritual attribute that every true believer in Christ must possess and if you do not possess it, you must make every effort to key into it. It will uproot dryness, scarcity, hardship, suffering, limitation, disfavor, embargoes, and backwardness out of your life. So, go for it. This is the time to make things right especially if you are to enter into God’s abundance. You must open your hands to give out.
Whatever a man sows, that he shall also reap. Reach out to somebody today and sow a seed of laughter into that person’s life and the Lord will make you laugh. A foolish farmer expects a bountiful harvest even when he had not sown anything. If you have not been giving in terms of worthy offerings, tithes, seed, and so on, it will amount to an exercise in futility expecting to have an abundance of everything.
However, in this month of Abundance, you are enjoined to give so that you will experience God’s supernatural abundance afresh. Remember, God loves a cheerful giver.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
- Any spirit of stinginess urging me not to give; be evacuated by the Holy Ghost fire, in Jesus’ name.
- That voice ministering doubt and discouragement into my heart especially when it comes to giving; I command you to be silent, in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, give me the grace to give bountifully and not sparingly, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, continue to encourage our Daddy and Mommy in the Lord to give as they pursue our vision and mandate, in Jesus’ name.
