SUNDAY SERVICE MESSAGE 6/12/2020.

Text: Luke 24:1-7, John 12:23-24, Galatians 2:20.

Topic: MY IDENTITY IN CHRIST.

True believers and born again Christians all over the world have an identity in Christ. We are dead to the world and resurrected with our Lord Jesus, such as, the world and flesh has no power over us.

Dead to the world, dead to sin and resurrected in our Lord Jesus Christ. We are dead to worldly desires, fleshly lust and sin; and such shall not have dominion over us.

They have no dominion over us and cannot be found in the dead, because we are in Christ, to live in newness of light and hope
( Roman 6:22, Roman 8:24-25,35-39.)

POINT TO CONSIDER.

1: THE DEAD RESURRECTED WITH CHRIST AND REASON.

While we were not born again, we did everything according to the motion of the flesh and lust. We were subject to the motion (Roman 7:14-16and15) of the flesh and controlled by the flesh while we were not yet born again (Roman 7:20-21. )

In time past, our life was controlled by the spirit of the world and the devil which made us proof to sin and unrighteousness. It is clear that when we became born again, we are no more subject to the motion of the flesh and lust because we have been crucified with Christ at the cross of Calvary; sin and the flesh do not have dominion over us anymore ( Roman 6:1-2.)

Being dead to sin, we do not sin or react to it anymore because the root of it has been destroyed by the power of God
(1Jonh 3:8-9, 1John 5:18.).
Being born again, we shall be free from any form ) of unrighteousness ( Roman66:6-7,8.)

We are free from sin. We are dead to the motions of the flesh (Romans 6:7), we are resurrected in Christ, in newness of life ,in righteousness ( 2nd Corinthians 5:17. Colossians 3 : 10, 1st John 3 : 8-9)

Once we have received Jesus Christ, we shall become prone to righteousness and we shall not struggle to live a righteous life ( Philippians 4 : 13, John 1 : 12) .
Once you have received Christ, you have power of sonship, power to to live right
( 1st John 5 : 18.) Once you are born again and received Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour, your life shall be characterized by righteousness, love, meekness, fear of God, mercy, truth and honesty ,because you have received the newness of Christ, because whatever will come out of you is the fruit of the spirit which you have received
( Galatians 5 : 22-23.)

Once you are born again, you have received the tree of righteousness; you have received light. Having received all these things you shall live your life to the Glory of God. A resurrected Christian life in Christ as our identity in the newness of life.

If you be a child of God, by their fruits we shall know them. Your identity will be of God . Dead to the world, alive in Christ. We shall live our life in our identity of new birth.
Any Christian that is living anyhow life is a Christian without identity.

We must live in the righteousness to show the newness of life in Christ ( Act 11 : 26.)

There must be proof to our identity that we belong to God (Galatians 2 : 20, matt 7 : 15-18.)
Come what may, we shall not compromise our stand and our faith ( Roman’s 8 : 35-39 )
we must keep to righteousness and never allow anything separate you from the love of Christ. You cannot deny Christ because of trials , persecution e.t.c.
Our identity should be clear that we belong to Jesus Christ and shall not be found among the dead (sin).

Be mindful of where You go and where you are found. Why seeking for the living among the dead? The living must be free from the dead. No living must be found among the dead
( Matt 8 : 36, matt 4 : 8.).
We should not be found among those who are found in the church for the love of money. We should not be like Esau who lost his life for the things of the world (Hebrew 12 : 16-17),
we should not give room to laxity, (2 Timothy 4 : 6-8.)

For Sinners and Backsliders, confess your sins and accept Jesus Christ today as your Lord and personal Saviour (Romans 3:23, 1 John 3: 8 & 9, 1 John 5: 17a, Isaiah 59: 1).

Sin is dangerous. It is destructive and yet almost the whole world has gone into sin.
Unbelief is sin. Selfishness is sin; Covetousness is sin, Insincerity is sin; backbiting, murmuring, speaking evil of others, these are terrible sin.
Going to native doctors, stealing from Government, stealing from companies and individuals, that is sin.

If you are among those people that are involved in fornication, adultery, homosexuality, lesbianism, abortion; that is terrible wickedness.

Fighting and quarreling, smoking and drunkenness; all these are evil. Ask for the mercy of God.

Are you into polygamous marriage or you have sent away your wife or you moved away from your husband? that is sin.

Are you a woman dressing like a man or a man dressing like a woman, all that is sin.
The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
