The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Douye Diri mounted the testimony podium and in humility, reverenced the Lord Jesus Christ, the God of Chosen.
His Excellency, acknowledged the God of Chosen as the miracle working God.
November 16, 2019 was the date the Bayelsa Governorship election was held. This election was widely acknowledged as the worst election in the history of Nigeria. At the end of the day, Winners were declared and I was alleged to have lost that election. I had no other hope but to turn to the Almighty God.
Prior to this day, on November 13, 2020, I had gone to Nembe, a Local Council Area in Bayelsa State, for a mandatory campaign visit.
On this particular day, I was advised by the incumbent Governor to avoid visiting Nembe in view of the wanton destruction going on there by political opponents.
I gave it a good thought and considered my Supporters and their families under siege in that location. More so, my campaign Team had already gone ahead into the district. In view of the aforementioned, I resolved and went into Nembe.
What we saw in that Area were Armed Thugs wielding AK-47 Rifles and shooting carelessly, maiming and killing indigenes and Community dwellers in the process.
It was only God that saved my life and I was able to get out of that environment.
Thereafter we went into the elections. It was less of an election and more of a Millitary Garrison as the entire Capital City and key locations were taken over by Soldiers. Subsequently, election results were announced and it was alleged that i lost the election.
I declared to all that were around me that there is a God that rules in the affairs of men.
My immediate response was to go to Court. However, while I went to Court, I also wrote a petition to the Almighty God.
While they trusted in their chariots, I trusted in God Almighty who had Generals representing him here on earth.
Before this time the Lord God Almighty had granted me access to power of God’s presence in the Lord’s Chosen.
This is how it happened:
The Local Government Chairman of my own Local Government is a member of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement in Bayelsa State.
On a certain day, during the build-up to the November elections, the Local Government Chairman visited me and requested that I oblige him the trust to allow him take me to the State Pastor of the Lord’s Chosen for prayers.
The prayer eventually held and the State Pastor continued to pray with me and follow me up until the electoral injustice of November 16.
The State Pastor encouraged me to visit the Lord’s Chosen beginning of the year programme at Mgbidi and have our General Overseer pray for me. I did not hesitate to oblige.
I met with the General Overseer at Mgbidi and he prayed for me under five minutes and said he was through with me.
I accepted his prayers with utmost belief and returned to the National Assembly as a Senator at FCT Abuja.
On February 13, 2020 just two days to the swearing in of the alleged winner of the November 16, 2019 election, the miracle happened.
Recall my Supporters were murdered in cold blood in the course of that election. Amongst those murdered was a journalist working with Radio Bayelsa.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), called the political parties and announced that the alleged Winner of the November 16 election did not participate in the election.
The National Chairman of the opposition party (Party of the alleged Winner) vowed that if they are not declared Winner of the election, that there will be no Governor in Bayelsa State.
The INEC directed that a count be made of the vote of all the other candidates that participated in the election to determine the highest number of votes. The Count was made and it was declared that I polled the highest number of votes and also attained the required spread from all the Local Government Areas in Bayelsa State.
On the day appointed for the swearing in of the elected Governor of Bayelsa State, I was issued a certificate of return from INEC and declared the winner of the Governorship election held on November 16, 2019 in Bayelsa State. I was sworn in the evening of 14th February 2020, as the 5th duly elected Governor of Bayelsa State.
My opponents reacted by hiring some of the best Lawyers in the Country and stormed the Supreme Court.
The opponents plea was not accepted by the Supreme Court and it was declared to them that no power can upturn the judgment of the Supreme Court in this matter.
His Excellency, Governor Diri declared that the General Overseer of the Lord’s Chosen is amongst the very few Men of God in Nigeria from whom he seeks counsel.
He declared that he is glad to announce to the entire congregation that the General Overseer of The Lords Chosen is serving a living God.
Consequent upon this understanding, he walks with so much confidence.
In view of the Governor’s experience since coming close to the General Overseer, he further pledged to be a regular worshipper at Mgbidi beginning of the year crusade every January.
His Excellency, Governor Diri announced to the Church that he has also adopted the General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen as his Father in the Lord.
He further requests for prayers of the Church for the sufficient empowerment to administer credible governance in Bayelsa State.
The Church has prayed.
