THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…THEME: LEARN TO BE JOYFUL IN ALL SITUATIONS

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…
DATE: Wednesday January 3rd, 2018.
TEXT: 1 Peter 1:6-9
THEME: LEARN TO BE JOYFUL IN ALL SITUATIONS
MEMORISE: “Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4)

MESSAGE:
In this Month of Joy, we must remember the Lord’s command that we should rejoice always. No matter the circumstance we find ourselves in, we must not allow the devil to steal our joy. When we are sad we open ourselves to discouragement, doubt, and faithlessness. Even in times of persecution, trials and temptation we should not allow ourselves to become overwhelmed. Admittedly this is easier said than done.

How does one stay positive and joyful amid trails and temptation? Firstly, by remembering who you are.

You are the Lord’s chosen one and the apple of His eye. If your earthly father will not allow you to undergo unnecessary pain or agony unless its absolutely necessary for your well-being, how much more our Father in Heaven who loves us and knows what’s best for us? Just as a parent may allow his child to go through some certain disappointments to teach the child a life lesson, God allows us to go through trials to develop our Christian character. We should therefore know for certain that any trial we are going through is designed to bring us closer to perfection.

In addition, we know that He has promised to not test us beyond what we can bear and with every test He provides a means of escape (1Corinthians 10:13). Thus, if we just stand firm in our faith, sooner or later the trial will be over and joy will come in the morning. After every storm there is a rainbow. In hindsight we can look back and say if not for so and so this would not have happened.

When Joseph was going through problems he did not know that every trial was leading him closer to his place of destiny. In the end he acknowledged that what was meant for his destruction turned out for good. Brethren, remember that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord.

Therefore, let the knowledge of what we are in Christ be your joy and strength in the time of need. Hold on and you will have a reason to shout for joy!

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayerpoints:

1. Dear God, give me the grace to hold on to your word in times of trails and temptation so that I will not grow weary in Jesus name

2. I rebuke every spirit of discouragement, sorrow and depression assigned to steal my joy in Jesus name.

3. I pray that God will grant my G. O and Mummy in the Lord the grace to face any challenge with joy and strength in Jesu name.
