THEME: BEWARE OF BACKSLIDING

MEMORISE: 66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? (John 6:66-67)

MESSAGE: 

Many who worked with Christ in various capacities left Him and worked with Him no more. There were many sacrifices to be made; many things to forgo, which they viewed as being too strenuous. 

They could not forgo the world and all its attractions and distractions and so, they sacrificed their eternity on the altar of worldliness. Come to think of it. What could they have achieved by losing eternity for temporal? 

This question should be asked all those that worked with Christ before, but now work with Him no more. They claim to have no time for God, but have time for their phones, businesses, jobs, careers and so on. All these at the end of this life will count for nothing.

The danger in not working with Christ anymore is that it is a sure way to backsliding. Jesus Christ is the head of all righteousness. Therefore, departing from Him and not working with Him again amounts to a disconnection from the source of original righteousness. Once this takes place, there is the danger of backsliding. 

Many people are quick to quit the service of God because they feel unfulfilled in one way or the other. The things of the world continue to put immense pressure on them to follow their own paths. 

They face the grave danger of missing out on eternity. Nothing that they crave for here can make up for the glory of heaven. Have you decided to work no more with Him because you need time to take care of your business, children, husband, wife, etc? It might lead to a gradual loss of interest in the things of God. So, watch out. The bible says that the thief cometh not, but for to steal, to kill and to destroy. (John 10:10a)

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. Any spirit of backsliding attached to my spiritual life to pull me out of faith; be uprooted, in Jesus’ name.

2. Anything that will make me to withdraw from working with God or following Him, let that thing be destroyed, in Jesus’ name.

3. I pray for fresh power and grace upon our G. O and Mummy in the Lord to follow the God of Chosen, in Jesus’ name.
