THEME: RUN TO OBTAIN A PRIZE
MEMORISE: I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air. (1Corinthians 9: 26)
MESSAGE:
When athletes enter into a race their sole aim is to win a prize at the end of the race. They do not enter into the race just for the fun of it. They have an end goal in mind and that is to come out not only victorious, but also to emerge with a prize at the end of the race. The prize that they run for, is perishable and of no real lasting value. Yet, they wake up every morning and train vigorously, denying themselves sleep and rest while others are enjoying themselves. They maintain a strict diet and exercise regime; preparing themselves mentally and physically for a perishable prize.
We believers should glean some insight from these athletes. If they can put in their all just because they want to win a perishable prize at the end, then we should put in even more effort in our Christian race because our prize is of lasting value and is more important than anything the world has to offer. Our prize is the crown of everlasting life and a place in Heaven where we will walk side by side with our Lord and Master Jesus.
The beauty and glory of Heaven cannot be compared to the most glorious place here on earth which will one day perish and be no more. Just as disciplined athletes, we too should be focused on the prize and train our flesh to submit to the will of God. We should train our flesh to obey and forsake the worldly distractions that so easily take us off course. We should daily search the word and spend time in prayer so that we can pick up our daily cross and run the race set before us. We must be determined to finish the race so that we can obtain a reward. He has promised to reward those that overcome till the end and He that promised is faithful. His reward is with Him and He will reward those that He will find waiting on that day.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. Dear Lord, give me the grace to run this race till the end in Jesus’ name.
2. I rebuke all worldly attractions, distractions and plan of the enemy to make me miss heaven in Jesus’ name.

3. I cover my G. O and Mummy in the Lord with your precious blood of Jesus Christ and pray that you preserve them till your coming, in Jesus’ name.
