THEME: BEWARE OF COMPLACENCY

MEMORISE: for we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. (2 Thessalonians 3:11)

MESSAGE:

The commandment to occupy till He comes means that we should be meaningfully engaged at all times doing His work. There are many reasons why we should always be actively engaged in spiritual service. Firstly, there is still a lot of ground that needs to be covered in spreading the gospel. Believe it or not a lot of people around the world have not yet encountered the good news of the gospel. These souls need to be reached before the Lord will come back to take away the saints. Another reason for active engagement is that by doing so there will be less room for the devil or his agents to lead you into sin.

An active solider in battle is ready for the enemy and is most likely to be prepared for any possible attack of the enemy. He will not be taken by surprise and will be in a position to meet fire with fire. However a solider that is on reserve and is resting will not likely be able to withstand any surprise attack of the enemy. There is a high probability that even though he is a solider and has been trained for battle, his unpreparedness will make him a possible victim of a surprise attack.

In today’s reading we see King David who used to be a mighty solider taking time out to relax while other kings were out in battle. He chose to relax and stay at home and in the process got himself entangled in a deadly affair that brought him so much heartbreak. This is what happens when we get to complacent and decide to take time off when we should be actively engaged in battle. Are you resting on your past achievements and feel that you have arrived? Do not be deceived. The race is not over till it’s over. The bible warns us that He that thinks he is standing should watch lest he falls. We need to guard our salvation carefully. Do not get complacent.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. Dear Lord, give me the grace to always be battle ready at all times.
2. I bind every spirit of timidity and complacency, in Jesus’ name.
3. Dear Lord, release upon our G. O and Mummy in the Lord the grace to operate in the supernatural abundance of your power all over the world, in Jesus’ name.
