TOPIC: OUR INEVITABLE ROLES IN A GROWING CHURCH (Part I)
TEXT: 1 Tim. 4:11, Acts 20:26-28, 32; John 8:32 .
EVERYONE who is truly born again must endeavour to know your role and that of members of your family or those committed into your hands by the Holy Ghost (Acts 20:28). So, we have a great role to play to all that are under us as a leader, pastor, house care teacher, head of departments, husband, wife, master or a follow-up worker; and in fact, as long as you have somebody under you.
Remember, we are members of this growing church and must function to make it healthy.
We shall consider the following sub-headings:-
I. Our Roles And The Reasons
2. Our Response And The Effect
1. OUR ROLES AND THE REASONS
Our foremost role is to be saved; we must be truly born again and are living right (2 Tim 2:15; 1 Tim 4:12, 16). Also, we must be listening to all the teachings, studies from our pastor and apply them to our daily life (Romans 2:13; James 2:12). We should teach all the counsels of God and ensure that those under us do them. Besides, we must teach our subject as husband, wife or leader of one person to be in the church on time, listen to all the teachings and commandments from our pastor and do them (John 13:17); the reason being that you are chosen as pastor, monitor, overseer, such person or children by the Lord (Acts 20:28).
2. OUR RESPONSE AND THE EFFECT
No one should over look or be careless over one soul under you or your children; if you do, it is a sign that you are not born again (Luke 22:31-32). We need to help ourselves and those under us to ensure they do all that is being taught in the church (1 Tim 4:12; Acts 20:28; 1 Tim 4:11-12); and when those under us are truly listening to the teachings and obeying them; then, we will not have rebels or rebellion in the house or church, and we shall be sure of these souls, that they make heaven at last.
Your welfare in eternity is God’s concern and ours; Please join us in the next study.
