TEXT: Hebrews 5: 11-14
MEMORIZE: “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” (1 Corinthians 13:11)

The Christian life is supposed to be a life of progression and fruitfulness from one stage to the other. We are expected to grow in faith and bear fruits. We need to equip ourselves for the spiritual battles that will enable this progression. Just like a recruit in the army is expected to learn the rudiments of warfare so he can be effective in battle and thereby progress in rank, we also are supposed to train ourselves in order to grow in the kingdom. Remember that we are running for a prize. We must therefore put away all the childish things that hinder us from progressing and bearing fruits in life.
How does a Christian put away childish behaviours? He begins to study the word of God which helps him/her to grow spiritually. That way, he/she becomes well acquainted with His laws and promises. Not knowing His word is not an excuse because He has made it available for us. That is why the Bible asks us to seek so we find. Dwelling on His words and promises help our faith to grow. We must also learn to practice His commandments and live righteously and separate from the world system. It is not the hearer of the word but the doer of the word that pleases God. We must pray without ceasing as a way to gain access into Gods presence and there we can make our request known to him, thereby oiling our relationship with Him. We must also begin to win souls for the kingdom. When we do all these things we will be able to withstand the trials ana temptations that will surely come to test our faith. Every test we pass makes us stronger in the Lord.
It is however a pity that after many years of being born again, some people have not been able to discard childish behaviours spiritually and are still at the same spot. They’ have failed to progress to the next level. They are not winning souls and still need to be prayed for and encouraged like new converts. They fall at the slightest trial or temptation. They complain and mummer. They have not built any spiritual muscle. Their flesh is still in control. This is sad. It is time to grow up and put childish things away. Make a commitment that you will begin to grow today.
Worship/praise God and then take the following Prayer points:
1. Lord, I thank you God for making me a Chosen and for granting me genuine salvation, in Jesus’ name.
2. Dear Lord, give me the grace to build spiritual muscle that will enable me advance in the kingdom, in Jesus’ name.
3. I break every yoke of spiritual sluggishness and lukewarm attitude in Jesus’ name.
4. Dear Lord, I pray that my G. O and Mummy in the Lord will continue their services to you in Jesus’ name.
